Sweeping Tail Above
This supercell produced a brief, distant, rain-wrapped and not very photogenic tornado shortly before; but its best show was in the form of striking banded structures such as this tail cloud, extending eastward almost to the zenith from a high, sandpaper-textured cloud base. The storm would go on to produce arguably wilder, more bizarre and stunning structure.
