A series of multicell thunderstorms formed above outflow from a large MCS earlier in the afternoon. This gave us a long lasting show of internally generated light to cap off a very peaceful and pleasant evening of storm observing that featured a display of reflected sunset glow from a short while before. The lightning was mostly in-cloud, but quite frequent and suitable for capturing the cloud structures illuminated from within by about 30 seconds of accumulated discharges. The faintest hint of late twilight added a nice touch of external illumination to the anvil edges, while sharply defined flanking towers rolled up the back edge of the complex (at right rear). In turn, electrically active areas would move down the line, closer to us, for a good part of the evening.
