Wind-shaped Lightning Stroke
Here is a lightning strike where the invisible step leader was distorted by strong difluent flow of a moist downburst as it approached the ground. Then, the visible return stroke lit up the wind-altered ion channel, closely matching the shape of the rain shafts. The CG was partially veiled by rain but still well-defined, giving it a somewhat ghostly effect as compared to the stark, sharp contrast of many lightning shots.
