The Majestic Supercell
Ghost in Shadow
Classical supercell structures became diffused under a big canopy of cloud material produced by this and a few other storms in the preceding hour. All the other storms died off, leaving this supercell anchored under the collective anvils of them all. Convective towers that would have gleamed rock-hard in appearance in the sunlight instead rolled upward into the anvil shield, ghostly gray under its shadow, exhibiting a more subtle beauty of texture and tone, yet no less amazing to behold than a sunlit storm.
