Built in 2002 on the campus of Florida International University, the Management and Advanced Research Center (MARC) reflects brilliantly in spotlighting on a cloudy winter afternoon. It was lunchtime of a hurricane-related conference that I was attending in that edifice, and the view from across the pond made a great excuse to both eat outdoors and shoot photos on a very pleasant day. The university arose in the 1970s on the grounds of the abandoned, original version of Tamiami Airport, with old runways visible on aerial photos into the mid-1990s; and the control tower still stands today. Needless to say, this place doesn't look like a weedy old airfield anymore!
