Here's a set of lightning pictures from near the Missouri River in the KC metro area. The greenish tint results from refraction of the artificial lights of the city -- thru the clouds and precipitation, magnified by time exposure. When shooting from one location the tinting caused by city glow seems to vary with exposure time and brightness of strokes. Certain color filters can be used to prevent this effect; but eschewing such photographic artifices, I chose to shoot "all-natural" photos with nothing but a protective glass "filter" on the lens.
