The Majestic Supercell
Sunlit and Striated in South Dakota
Even though this young supercell was becoming elevated over rain-cooled air from an earlier gob of storms, its internal dynamics maintained storm-scale rotation long enough to cast the cloud structure into a wonderfully layered form. Meanwhile, a still newer storm assumed its position and influence in the northern sky.
