Gallery of Outflow
National Gust Front Center
Late afternoon light, more from east than west, very little from overhead, cast a distinctive glow on the scene. The overhead shadowing came from the turbulent, surging underbelly of a shelf cloud. Final vestiges of inflow breeze lightly lifted the flaccid flags flying in front of the National Weather Center facility, before a swift change in the weather. Within minutes, the entire scene looked drastically different, as heavy rain and small hail pelted the ground, the flags whipping eastward in blustery outflow.
