National Winter Center?
By the time of the November-ending 2006 winter weather event in Norman, the National Weather Center had been newly opened, its many meteorological occupants settled in. While the overriding research and forecast theme of the weather community there is severe storms, some winter weather work happens too. Appropriately enough, then, the new facility's first significant weather event was a messy layer cake of freezing rain and sleet, capped with the snow seen here in banded drifts.
