Over an Overhang

Over an Overhang

Looking down upon a snow overhang from above, in the low sun angle of a late-winter afternoon, offers strange contrasts in light and shadow, depending on the relative angle of the surface to viewer and sun. Such a vantage, projected onto the sensor or film of a camera, turns a decidely three-dimensional sccene into a two-dimensional form of abstract lighting.
