Rotator StuffRotating with due vigor, this scenic, tilted and striated supercell prompted a flurry of severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings across southeasterm Nebraska. It failed to spawn a tornado, despite moving down a vorticity-laden warm front at the time of the photo, and crossing an outflow boundary soon thereafter. Long-lasting supercells in such conditions often have an enhanced risk of tornadoes, but this one bucked that tendency. 4 E Pawnee City NE (7 Jun 9), looking WSW |
