Fallen Miami RadarRooftop of the building housing the National Hurricane Center at the time, in Coral Gables. This was just N of Andrew's eyewall. Here on this roof, a 142 kt (164 mph) gust was measured before the anemometer busted. The MIA WSR-57 radome was blown away, and the dish toppled. The black object in the middle is the radar antenna, whose landing thud was heard and felt 7 floors below in NHC. Note the bent radio antennae also; they lean toward the W. Looking NE.
