Red Bird in a Redbud
This woebegone little cardinal stood out brilliantly against the backdrop of wintertime shades of gray. A thin veneer of ice mantled the branches of its perch of choice -- a redbud, the Oklahoma state tree -- which still dangled seed pods from the previous year's bloom.
