Rocky Mountain Cloud Line
Trail Ridge Road in Rocky Mountain National Park has loads of natural wonders in the summer -- from elk herds at all elevations, to interesting rock formations, to spectacular vistas of forests, canyons, peaks and alpine tundra. So what better way is there to cap off an afternoon of such sights than with a fine sunset above the timberline? The last rays of the day illuminated and silhouetted this solitary line of cumuliform clouds, drifting through the crisp, clean sky above the 12,000 foot elevation where I was standing. In a setting like this, the cold breezes and thin air didn't seem to matter at all.
