Mini Cloud Atlas
Devils Tower in Stratus
Stratus may seem like the most drab and uninteresting cloud formation; but in certain settings it has its own mystique. The day we explored Devils Tower's surroundings, the tower itself remained cloaked in post-frontal fog for hours, only its base unenshrouded. Gradually the ceilings rose, until almost at crown of this legendary volcanic column. The tower could continue indefinitely into the heavens or truncate right where we know it does, and still appear much the same as here; for its barely discernible top looks as if it could be the bottom of the thickest stratus.
