St. Peter Tornado Zoom[Part 3 of 6] For me, highly visible tornadoes are highly uncommon; so when they occur, it's time to take full advantage. A quick change of lenses offered the opportunity for a few zoom shots (here, with a 300 mm focal length) while the condensation funnel continues its "cone with a snake tail" appearance -- by now getting both front-light and silhouetting against the background rain core. Precipitation around the vortex actually began diminishing, allowing more visibility all around it. 11 E St. Peter KS (22 May 7), looking NNE.
