Wet Stones

Sediments of similar size tend to sort out together, and here was no exception. The stones, smoothed first in river currents, then by many years of the daily sloshing and grinding of ocean waves, bathed in a thin film of ocean water left by the first waves of the incoming tide. The scene, repeated after each wave but lasting only a few seconds before more evaporation, was yet another example of the beauty that awaits practically underfoot, if we just take the opportunity to notice.
