Wet Stones

Sediments of similar size tend to sort out together, and here was no exception. The stones, smoothed first in river currents, then by many years of the daily sloshing and grinding of ocean waves, accumulated in a separate section of the same beach where I shot images of sand saturated by seawater. The same tidal recession was at work here as well, the last waves of the outgoing tide leaving their thin film of water on the stones. The scene, repeated after each wave but lasting only a few seconds before more evaporation, was yet another example of the beauty that awaits practically underfoot, if we just take the opportunity to notice.
