NORTHEAST OKLAHOMA OZARKS REGION (2009)

In mid-October 2009, we had the opportunity to spend a couple of days in the beautiful western Ozark Plateau region of northeastern Oklahoma. This was an area neither of us had visited by day, but one we knew was ripe for easygoing exploration. As often is the case, we went with no specific photographic agenda, instead taking advantage of opportunities as they arose. Much as with advanced planning for storm photography, this was a surprisingly rewarding shoot in that hidden, unexpected and unforgettable little gems of scenery, large and small, awaited in the midst of very generalized route planning for ambient outdoor conditions. A common dimension or theme was water...lots of it. Heavy rains during the previous days had left some areas in full flood, others simply wet and verdant with the start of fall foliage changes.
