Elke and I had enjoyed a few "down" days (with respect to storms) in the Turtle Mountains and International Peace Garden area; but it was time for some atmospheric action again. With severe storm potential forecast in the southwest North Dakota area the afternoon of the 13th, we decided to head SW from the Turtle Mountains area on the 12th to get in good position. Fortuitously, both the North and South units of Teddy Roosevelt National Park were squarely in our area of interest. A selection of our favorite still photography from those hikes and drives appears here. We also made DSLR time lapses from the South Unit on the 13th, three looking N (1, 2, 3), and a long, colorful time lapse looking NE across Painted Canyon. These were our first visits to the amazing and spectacular badlands of TRNP, and we hope for more.
