Springtime cumulus clouds offer alternating light levels aground, while texturing the sky aloft, across the enchanting landscape of Toadstool Geologic Park. Part of Oglala National Grassland and well off the beaten path--15 miles down a rough gravel road near the northwest corner of Nebraska--you have to want it seriously enough to go there. Toadstool is a southwestern outlier of the Badlands landscape of South Dakota, but without the throngs of tourists. I consider it even more photogenic!
