A fat tornado crossing rural areas near Stockton, KS, was simultaneously beautiful and menacing. Fortunately, the vortex caused no injuries and could be observed safely during its entire 11-12 minute lifespan. This was a triumph of improvisational photography! With no tripod ready, I took this 200-mm zoom shot using a tilted fencepost and a rock together for stabilization.
