The rolling shortgrass prairies of western South Dakota, newly verdant in a spring-green carpet, host a majestically spiraled supercell formation. Sweeping, corkscrew-like storm structure never fails to amaze me, despite having witnessed hundreds of supercells in over a quarter-century of traversing the Great Plains. Even in similar basic form, every High Plains supercell has a uniquely tailored suit of clouds that changes by the minute.
