On a rather windy, overcast afternoon that followed a cold front, this double-crested cormorant stood uneasily on its perch, its back to the wind, feathers ruffled just a little, far less concerned about my presence than its own steadiness afoot. The overcast conditions helped with photography by eliminating high dynamic range and casting more smoothly distributed lighting across the unfocused background.
