Condemned by nature if not officially, another Kansas homesteader's once-sturdy dwelling slowly decays toward a dusty destiny. Tens of thousands of these houses and accompanying outbuildings once dotted the length and breadth of the rural Great Plains, constructed not just from nails and wood, but with sodbusters' dreams and muscle and sweat. Now their well-worn windows whistle in the wind, dichotomously reminding the rare visitor about both long-lost craftsmanship and the inevitable prevalence of the uncompromising prairie weather.
