Take a peek upward from within the 1628 baroque dome of the Salzburg Cathedral, partially restored by 1959 after a World War II bomb busted through the roof. [The reconstruction left it very slightly asymmetric.] The frescoes depict Old Testament scenes, and were likely painted by Italians Donato Mascagni and Ignazio Solari. I love straight-up views such as this, as the symmetry that's there yields a nearly fractal perspective on classical architecture. Salzburg native Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was baptized under this dome, whose outside can be seen in front of the fortress in a previous Image of the Week.
