Unloading and preparing for what promised to be a fine sky during and after sunset, we caught the distant sepia tones from shortly before, as a bank of low, soft scud clouds passed in front of the sun. The clouds were thin enough to let the light through and keep the orb sharp-edged, but just the right thickness to mute the glare for photography with only a couple of stops' exposure under natural light levels. The result was one of my favorite kinds of fair-weather images.
